From June 20th to 23rd, I served as lead Director of Photography at the 20th annual Hui Mālama Loko I’a conference, hosted by Hawai’i Land Trust’s Ka Poholima Kā’eo and KUA at Waihe’e Coastal Dunes & Wetlands Refuge on Maui. Gathering over 200 fishpond practitioners from across Hawai’i, the event featured ceremonies, service projects, and a powerful video that honored the community’s work to protect Waihe’e. Together, the group completed an impressive 1,000 feet of kuapā (fishpond wall) in four hours, creating a legacy that will inspire loko iʻa stewards for years to come.
