I was commissioned to capture the essence of The Log Cabin at Malu Manu, a serene retreat perched 4,250 feet up on the slopes of Haleakalā Mountain. With panoramic views stretching over the West Maui Mountains, Lānaʻi, Molokini, and the vast Pacific Ocean, the cabin offers an extraordinary vantage point to appreciate Hawai‘i’s island chain. Named Malu Manu, meaning "bird sanctuary," the location honors the colorful native birds gracing the branches of surrounding sandalwood, ʻōhiʻa, koa, and ʻaʻaliʻi trees. Documenting this tranquil, reverent place was a remarkable experience, bringing the beauty and stillness of this sanctuary to life through my lens.
